Christmas is for Kids

Many say that Christmas is truly for kids. It’s hard to disagree when you find yourself in a toy store just to get your child, inaanak, pamangkin, or even your little neighbor a gift that’ll make them smile. However, some kids are not as fortunate as our young loved ones.

Through Enervon, you can make a difference for the kids of the Virlanie Foundation. All you have to do is text REFILL to 2948. The proceeds from every text message you send are donated to the foundation. Every text message also makes the Enervon Smiley billboard on PET building, EDSA shine brighter. Let’s not forget the reason for the season and share the happy to the kids of Virlanie Foundation. Keep texting, mag-refill with Enervon and share the happy.

And if you lend a helping hand, you might even grab an MP3 player along the way! Each text you send gets you more chances of winning a Philips Go Gear Mix MP3 player.

Spread the word. Share the happy!

Love in All the Little Faces

It was a weekend full of young hearts.  This weekend was spent with so many kids I couldn’t keep track how many smiles I have received and how many smiles I have given.  When there is sharing of Love, it’s countless.

Thursday evening after work, Bubba and I went Christmas shopping for toys.  I bought toys (as prizes) for Madz’ invite to Project Brave Kids Xmas Party last Saturday and for my birthday outreach project planned for February next year.

From the onset of dating, I’ve already enlisted Bubba’s help in the Christmas goody bags we distributed in 2006.  Since then, we have already committed doing an annual Christmas project together to reach out to the less privileged.  This was our way of giving back to the community for the blessings (even the problems!) that we receive abundantly every year.   If do not find the time to organize, we volunteer for our friends’ outreach programs and donate in kind as well as in time.

This year, we decided to do separate projects to aid more organizations.  Bubba is doing his on December 20, which is next Sunday, while I have to postpone mine to next year, during my birthday month.  I have completely left Bubba alone in planning for his outreach program and it looks like it’s coming altogether soon.  Again, thank you to our friends who have pledged their Sunday afternoon to help out and spend time with the Virlanie Foundation kids.

Last Saturday was the take-off of the causes lined up in our list until next year.

Project Brave Kids

Last February, my “sole” (we like and have the same shoes, now we like the same bags) sister Maddie raised funds during her birthday party to donate to Project Brave Kids.  She invited us again to help out by volunteering during PBK’s Christmas party last Saturday.

Project Brave Kids is an organization that assists children with cancer and their families toward improving their quality of life by enhancing their social, emotional and physical well-being.  The founder also has a child who was stricken with bone marrow cancer at a young age but after a long process, he has now fully recovered and has 0% cancer!

Celebrities who graced the event was Darna star, Marian Rivera, Kenyo and PBA stars among others.  Jollibee made a special appearance also to dance to the very popular song “Nobody,” to which little Andre danced his heart to.  It was so heartwarming to see 150 kids in excitement and joy with the overflowing food, gifts and programs prepared.  The best part was the news that over 10 brave kids graduated from chemo treatment and will start to live a life outside numerous hospital visits.

With Maddie and Issang

Great job by the Project Brave Kids organizers for putting together this big Christmas event for the Brave Kids.  We wanted to stay longer but we also had to attend our good friends’ children party for their daughter so after collecting trash after lunch, Bubba and I dashed to Greenmeadows.

How You Can Help

There are so many ways to share ourselves to others: be a volunteer, a benefactor, a donor, an advocate, a foster parent or a partner.  For more information, please visit the Project Brave Kids website.

Volunteers can join the following activities:

Intercessory Prayer Service: A prayer group shall be formed for each patient, to support the family spiritually.

Hospice Care: Volunteers will visit terminally-ill patients and provide their families comfort and assistance in this most distressing time.

Camp Volunteer: Through an annual summer camp, patients and families will have a chance to take a break from the rigorous schedules of treatment. Volunteers will accompany these families and help facilitate the various activities.

Special Occasion Volunteer: During special occasions, volunteers can take over the care of the cancer patient so that moms or dads can devote a day to themselves.

Even if my body feels tired, my spirit is floating as my heart only contains pure joy for the kids who easily find happiness in the smallest of things.  From their little faces, it shows that their hearts are always open to receiving love.

Spread the LOVE,

Jane 🙂
