Michael Jackson’s Doctor Investigated

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and LAPD detectives searched the residence and office of Conrad Murray, each location a week apart.  Murray is Michael Jackson’s doctor who is believed to have given Jackson a lethal dose of anesthetic Propofol.

Propofol is used to induce unconsciousness in patients ahead of major surgery.  In hospitals, only a trained anesthesiologist is allowed to administer the drug under strict monitoring conditions.

TMZ.com reported that Murray had told police in an interview he gave Jackson Propofol via an intravenous drip.  The website reported police believe Murray may have fallen asleep while the drug was being administered, and awoke to find the singer already dead.

If Murray did inject Jackson with Propofol negligently, he can be charged with homicide.

The federal agents and police came to his office a week earlier with a search warrant seeking evidence for the “offense of manslaughter”

The LA Coroner’s office reported that the toxicology result is due by the end of this week.

Agave Mexican Cantina

Where Hula-Hula used to stand is now a Mexican restaurant named Agave.  Like Em Dy, I also miss Hula Hula.  I remember eating paella negra with Bubba at this joint some time 2006.  Didi, Fran and I got together for dinner on Tuesday and it was also the perfect time to try a new restaurant since we three love to eat.

On the Table

Nacho Grande PHP 305

We ordered this appetizer to share.  Corn tortilla chips weren’t too greasy which is how I like my chips.   Smothered with ground beef, refried beans, tomatoes, guacamole, onions and drizzled with sour cream.

Combo Cuatro PHP 255

Bubba’s order -choice of cheese enchilada and two shrimp chile rellenos with Mexican rice

Yucatan Skewers Chicken PHP 305

Didi’s order, which looked really appetizing –three skewers with charred chicken meat alternating with roasted vegetables.  The chicken was a little dry according to Didi.  That didn’t stop me from ordering the beef version.

Combo Uno PHP 265

Fran’s order –choice of taco and choice of enchilada

Cheese Enchilada (Single) PHP 155

My order was cheese enchilada with Mexican rice and salad.  Not even 10 minutes when it was placed on the table and I saw it vanish right in front of my eyes.  The layers of flour tortilla alternating with cheese with a little tomatillo was indeed mouthwatering.  Apparently, it wasn’t enough for hungry me so I ordered the beef skewers as my second entree.

Yucatan Skewers Steak PHP 395

It was charred on the outside but rare on the inside so we had to ask the wait staff to take it back for another run in the rotisserie.  This time it was cooked medium well but I was glad that the meat was still juicy and succulent.  Very flavorful meat with vegetables that are cooked soft enough but with a bite.  This is definitely a repeat order when I come back.

Margarita (Free)

Since Fran had an Agave card, our bill was slashed with a 10% discount and I got a free Margarita.

Good food and great bonding sesh can really lighten any long day at work.  I didn’t realize that it was already 12midnight and it has been more than 4 hours of talk time.  It was nice to bond with these two since I learn more about the hard work behind any wedding day.  I didn’t realize that weddings can cost an arm and a leg these days.  Didi lost so much weight by the way without consciously trying to!!!

Wish we came earlier so we could have availed of the 50% Happy Hour discount.  Celebrate Happy Hours with 50% off all appetizers and Agave signature cocktails.  Available from 4-7 PM everyday.

The Road to Texas Roadhouse and Mother’s Day

Since Cafe Juanita was fully booked, I decided to troddle to Texas Roadhouse in El Pueblo.  Texas Roadhouse is officially my go-to-family restaurant.  I have never been disappointed in any of my visits.  Servings are huge and coherent with the price.  Best of all, customer service in Texas Roadhouse is supreme and their thrust to building customer relationship is commendable.  Even on full house, wait staff is quick, efficient and serves with a smile.  On Mother’s Day, with no obligations, they gave away long-stemmed roses to mothers who dined in their restaurant to celebrate the occasion.  In other restaurants, you actually have to buy their Mother’s Day special or promo prior to getting any perks.

I gave my mom a scrapbook with some of our memorable photos of recent times in it and a dedication, which made her a bit emo.  My sister, who feels our heartbeats, started to break down too.  So we tried pacifying her but she really became emotional.  The photos of her crying are heartwrenching but are too cute!!!  My beloved cartoon character.

Texas Roadhouse Again

Texas Roadhouse is now included in my list of comfort food.  There’s Mom and Tina, Café Juanita, Shakey’s, Pasto to name a few.  Texas Roadhouse has become that feel good food for me.  After checking out at Makati Shangrila, we headed to Texas Roadhouse in Ortigas (since the one at the Fort is always full!).  Our body was still tired from the adventure race we participated in from 8pm-2am (more on that on a separate post).  I actually slept around 5am already.

 On the Table:

texas3

Nacho and Cheese PHP 250 ++

This is the first time Bubba tried this dish and I was right!  It was really up his alley.  He enjoyed the chunky layer of cheese on top of the nacho, garnished with a coin of Jalapeno on top.  He even discovered that there’s a layer in between the cheese and nacho that’s ground beef.  Ultra yum!

texas4

Parmesan Crusted Fish PHP 340 ++

A favorite of Bubba and mine.  Parmesan encrusted fish has a crunchy coating but the fish meat remained fresh and juicy inside.  It had Alfredo sauce poured on top and Marinara sauce on the side.  I was tempted to order this too but it doesn’t make sense to have two plates of it when we can try a new dish.

texas2

Shrimp and Salmon Skewer PHP 350 ++

Served with vegetables and pilaf rice. I wasn’t able to finish this but was a bit disappointed that the shrimp tasted bland.  It didn’t have any grill markings.  It was like steamed shrimp pierced by a skewer.  The salmon was dry.

texas6

I was stung by the heat of Tabasco (Bubba claims I had a spoonful of the spicy condiment) and couldn’t get my bearings.  I asked for sugar from the wait staff.  The manager saw what happened and was so nice to get me a slice of Mandarin to ease my tongue on fire.
