Halloween 2009, Magnet Cafe

After a coupla months, the Sabi family met again. A few people were missing in action –Yssah, Reggie, NA, Chay and Mon.

We attended the Halloween event of Magnet Café at Bonifacio High Street last Saturday.  I love Halloween and seeing people dress up in their creative costumes.  I particularly like the funny ones and ones that stir an evocative memory.  I was planning to come as “leftover.”  But we were running out of time that both CW and I just went as we are –“boring people.”

I enjoyed some of the dance music, but it was mostly house music -which I couldn’t relate much to.  I just gorged on my order of Magnet’s Beef Kebab with curry rice.  It was delicious.

It was good to see Team Sabi once again and my heart melt listening to Carlo and Shiela recount the proposal.  They also shared their wedding preps and I got to hand it to these two trimming their guest list to the “essentials.”  From the now 12 friends I know who are getting/got married (between June 2009 – October 2010), Carlo and Shie have the least number of guests (less than 100!) for the actual wedding reception.  They are planning another party for the rest that didn’t make the tight cut. This seemed most practical when they were explaining the plan.  I’m so excited for them.

They wanted to wed on 10-10-10 but since the church of choice (Sanctuario de San Jose) was already fully booked, wedding date is now 10-8-10 (still a pretty good number to remember if you ask me –it’s my dad’s birth date). Carlo asked if I could read during the ceremony –which makes me both nervous and ecstatic. Still finalizing the other details but all the Sabi family (even those MIA) are in high spirits with regard to this union.

The Woman to Spend the Rest of My Life with

Carlo Genato and Shiela Bermudez are engaged!!!

My friend Carlo (a.k.a. Kyle, Carlopot, Clo-clo to me), my closest guy officemate in the previous company, finally asked the hand of his girlfriend, the ever-pleasant Shiela.

Carlo and Shiela go a loooooong way back and their history and path have led them to this point in their lives.

10-10-10 sounds like a good wedding date!  (Carlo, you’ll never have a problem remembering when asked)

Both of you are closing a chapter in your life, as Richard Bach would say, true love stories never have endings.

Lots of love to you Carlo and Shiela!

Trio and Kaskade Event

Bubba and I met up with my former colleagues (dubbed as the Sabi Peeps) last Saturday.  It was a slow weekend for us but I was glad that we stayed in Manila during the long weekend break that enabled us to meet with the Sabi group for dinner.  Camille, Carlo, Shie, and Martin was going to the Kaskade event staged at Embassy Superclub.  Since Bubba and I are straying from the club scene nowadays, we opted not to go but we joined them for dinner.

Camille was on time and we picked her up first before heading to Trio.  Carlo and Shiela followed shortly while Martin was fashionably late because he went shopping earlier that evening.  Gosh, how I miss this group!

Carlo and Shiela shared their Camiguin getaway as well as their trip in Boracay.  We also reminisced the office antics before… It was a fun evening of drinks and great company.  Planning a Subic Tree Top Adventure trip soon for the whole group (hello Yssah and Mon, don’t be strangers!)

Carlo’s 28th Birthday @ Warehouse 135

July 26.  Right after the Lifehouse concert, we headed straight to Warehouse 135 for Carlo’s birthday bash.  Carlo made my Sabiclub stint so much brighter and memorable.  What started as a simple relationship went from a working relationship to great friendship.  We used to have a lot of breakfasts together at work because we’re usually the first ones in the office.  Either that or he lets me have all of his breakfast.  Long has it’s been since the first time I met him and he turned me off with his smoking.  He was turned off with the weird blush application on my face.  Haha.  Long were the days I’d get caught in the middle of crossfire between him and his ex, who’s also a good friend of mine.  I love them both though.

Carlo’s girlfriend has pretty much won my heart too.  Shiela is really a sweet girl.  Don’t be fooled with her small frame because she is one tough cookie, having to travel all the time for her previous work.

The last time Chris and I bonded with Carlo and Shiela as a couple was during our trip almost a year ago to Subic.  We stayed there for one night and went on a Zoobic Safari adventure the next day.  I had so much fun bonding with another couple, who we can very much relate with.  The next trip boiling with this couple might be an out-of-the-country thing, which will be very exciting!

When we arrived at Yakal Street by 1130pm, I was surprised to see the extra long line reminiscent of Embassy lines, or maybe longer, and apparently, there was only ONE line.  No separate line for VIP/Guest as how Embassy does it.  While Bubba parked the car, I sent an SMS to Carlo to check if we have to fall in line even if we’re on the guest list.  To my relief, he said we didn’t have to any more.  He met us at the door and the rain just poured.

The downpour and the busy Warehouse135 almost rained on Carlo’s parade, but it didn’t stop his friends from making it all better.  By past midnight, the guests on the list are complete and the party heated up.  Martin did his signature lights dance to everybody’s entertainment.

Gosh, how I miss the Sabiclub peeps!!!  Camille is right.  It is not friendship that we have created.  We are already in fact, a family.
