Nick Vujicic LIVE in Manila for Unstoppable Faith and Unstoppable Dream
I first learned about Nick Vujicic when our Pastor showed a video of his feature on Oprah at the end of a Sunday Church Service. Imagine having to go through life without hands… much more feet… or any part of your limbs. Known as “The Man with No Limbs”, Nick Vujicic of Serbian and Australian descent, was born in Melbourne, Australia, without arms and legs from a rare disorder, tetra-amelia. We need arms to fend for ourselves, to work and make a career, to wrap around a friend and express our joy or support, to hold our loved ones with affection… we need feet to get to one place to another, to steer our body in a direction, to run aimlessly towards a clearing or field, to climb stairs, to dance. I can’t imagine not being able to move my body to dance. How about not having both?
His story of disability started as a daily struggle against the usual challenges of school and growing up such as bullying and self-esteem issues, as well as with depression and loneliness. God has a plan for him all along and we will be able to learn his story of overcoming a limbless life with the message of hope and strength found in Jesus Christ alone.
On May 18 & 20, 2013, evangelist and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic will hold 2 conferences called UNSTOPPABLE FAITH and UNSTOPPABLE DREAM live in Manila.

72nd UAAP Men’s Basketball Finals (2009) Game 3: Battle for the Title
The Ateneo Blue Eagles aimed to bank back-to-back titles when they clinched the first win in the final series of the 72nd UAAP men’s basketball tournament last October 1. The game ended with a 78-71 score with the Eagles leading the way by 13 points since the 1st quarter. The UE warriors didn’t make it easy for the Eagles retorting with a 19-1 run before the end of the first half. The Eagles however held on to their game with the 2008 Most Valuable Player Rabeh Al-Hussaini clutching an impressive game with 28 points and 14 boards and Jai Reyes piling sets of triples.
Game Two proved to be a totally different story. University of the East made the most of the best-of-three finals bringing the series to a do or die match Game 3. Ateneo received quite a blow from the Warriors being behind by 20 points after the final buzzer. It’s been 24-years since UE scored a UAAP title and they want to discontinue that record this year. Last time Ateneo pulled a back-to-back series was in 1987-88, Ateneo is vying to replicate that.
The heat is rising –a smoking Game Three to watch out for.
Game 2 Scores:
UE 88 -Espiritu 22, Llagas 19, Lee 13, Acuña 12, Lingganay 7, Reyes 6, Zamar 5, Duran 4, Tagarda 0, Bandaying 0.
ATENEO 68 -Al-Hussaini 18, Monfort 12, Reyes 11, Baclao 10, Austria 6, Salamat 4, Long 3, Chua 2, Buenafe 2, Sumalinog 0, Salva 0.

Poker Tales: Cracked Bullets Part Deux
My bootie just kissed the seat. It was only the second hand I’ve been dealt with. Brian comes over and talks to me about traveling because of my Nat Geo magazine. I put in the 20, this Korean mommy raised to 100. Nobody else called. I shrugged and called with K8 off suit. My buy-in was 500.
Flop: 8? 5? 4?
I checked. She bets 200. Over pockets, I thought. I call, hoping to land my second pair on the turn.
Turn: K?
I went all in with the 200 left. She calls without hesitation.
River: 9?
She shows AA. I show my hand. I win 900.
It was my turn to knuckle-punch bullets.

A Child’s Smile
Saturday was one of the best Saturdays spent this year.
Zarah, having worked together on a charity project before for the elderly, buzzed me last Tuesday regarding another volunteer work. I was really excited. This time it’s for the other end of the spectrum, kids. The RSCC Orphanage is located just at the back of SM North EDSA.
It was a feeding program hosted by Michy and her friend. 20 minutes after we got to the venue, we see kids running with so much enthusiasm towards the activity hall. It was a total of 62 kids. I think we were about 10 in the group. They were so giddy about that afternoon’s activities. Most were generally playful. Some need affection –a touch, a tender hug.
They took their respective seats in their small chairs. The boys are grouped all together and the girls in another. The program started with games the children was familiar of. The palpable energy was so contagious that it upped my vigor ante.
They say a child smiles on the average 400 times a day compared to an adult whose smile average is 15 times a day on a good day. What a great reward to be able to smile like a child again –that smile of pure joy and unadulterated innocence.
Trip to Jerusalem
To see a child’s smile is one of life’s greatest blessings. I smiled 400 times that Saturday afternoon.
