After being stretched so far and thin at work, which is like a norm more than seasonal these days for both Bubba and I, we finally decided to make our Friday night count. In the past 2 years, after being so exhausted after a week of hard work and multi-tasking and functioning, we usually set for home and watch DVD or just get a massage somewhere on a Friday night. We rarely go out, and rarely meant we’ve probably been out and about on a Friday night within a hand’s count in a year. We’re pretty close to living a rock star life eh? Haha.
Armed with enforced energy to feel young, out we drove to Fort and stumbled at a charming NY-style restaurant called Rose. The 18-seater dining room is a clean minimalist box-type area with contemporary concrete walls, Narra-wood column accents and right in the middle is a rotating belt. At a closer look, instead of the usual silver metal belt, sushi, specialty maki, appetizers are atop floating boats drifting in a circular stream.
The cheerful wait staff offers us to try Rose’s Firecracker Edamame (P160) which is Japanese green beans caramelized in a garlic paste packed with heat. I opted for the Deep-fried Scallops with Camembert (P180) but unfortunately at 830pm dinner, they already run out. I wanted a lighter fare so opted for small plates while enjoying a drink while Bubba ordered a main dish.
