All You Need in a Mate: Inti-Mate Bra Converter

What do we need from a good mate? 😉

SUPPORT.

That’s exactly what Inti-Mate does!  Bolster up falling bra straps with Inti-Mate bra converter.  It holds the bra straps in an “x” across your back.  Be more comfortable to wear your racer-back tops without the fashion blunder of displaying your underwear straps.  I know I’ve been guilty of that tacky fashion crime several times.

What’s great about the Inti-Mate Bra is the fact that you’re not limited to use it with only undergarments.  I’ve actually used it to secure the loose straps of my blue dress.  Other than giving you an added support with your bra –effects of a push up bra –instant support, cleavage and confidence, you can also use it with your dresses or tops with loose-fitting straps.  Some straps wear out overtime.  Inti-Mate Bra Converter easily resolves that dilemma.

The best part is, that “x” in fact gives you an added sexy look.

Don’t forget to grab yourself an Inti-Mate Bra Converter pack (PHP 250) that includes 3 clips: 1 black, 1 nude and 1 clear clip.  It’s also a perfect gift to give to your girlfriends!

Singapore Day 3: IKEA and Connection

When I woke up, Kate was already at the desk clicking on her laptop.  She was hard at it, working fervently at a career she loves.  She used to be based in Singapore for work but she realized that there’s no place like home and eventually left the Singaporean company to go back to the Philippines.  A few months later, the Singaporean company hired her back –this time, she is working home-based in the Philippines and the emails are her attendance at work.  What a really great break! 🙂

She was almost done and she asked me my plans for the day.  I said I had no plans and was thinking of a trouble-free last day in Singapore.  She said she was going to IKEA and invited if I would like to join her.  She wants to buy some stuff from IKEA and meet friends she made in Singapore.  I was suddenly ecstatic!!! 😀

You see, I wanted to go to IKEA that I was harping about it the night before in the cab on the way home with Chrissy, Ivy and Jonel.  Since I had no one familiar with the city to go with, I decided against it.  I heard it was a bit far from Link Hotel.  Thank goodness for an angel like Kate, my beloved roomie, and suddenly my Sunday was looking less bleak.

Another thing I like being bunked with Kate is, without having to speak, our movements are in such great tango with each other.  She had her space and I had mine and timing in the bathroom between us was seamless –both productive and relaxed.

What made this departure day different though is I usually have my luggage packed the night before and clothes to wear and everything else ready.  But after a fun night with the group much laughing and walking, I plunk-ed on my unmade bed with my water bottle.  I wasn’t able to pack at all –a first in my book actually.

Good thing I was able to make haste and packed in 20 minutes (I usually take a leisure hour), just in time Kate finished packing too.  We checked out and placed our luggage in the lobby.  We were crossing the street when I checked my phone and saw Jen’s text message.  I replied and said we were on the way out but will wait for her if she’s ready.  She was all set and 5 minutes later the three of us were on a bus going to our IKEA date.

IKEA

IKEA was a good 30 minutes from our starting point.  It wasn’t so difficult to get there by commuter bus since Kate was familiar with Singapore.  At one point, it took a while to figure where the express shuttle is but both Jen and I were still at ease with Kate at the front.  We took a train, 2 buses and we were finally at IKEA.

IKEA was like an enormous warehouse that offers a wide range of well-designed functional home furnishing products at prices so reasonable, both Jen and I did quite some shopping.  We only had an hour before we meet up with Kate again so we really maximized our time –checking only items that really caught our interests and consulting with each other on the price and usability.

$1 Breakfast

I bought a few items (lamps, rags, photo frame, 1kg Swiss meatballs, chocolates, etc), while Jen’s big purchase was two white fur shrugs for her favorite chair at home.  I ran out of Singapore dollars and my only complaint about IKEA is that they don’t accept US dollars.  Jen and Kate had to lend me some SG money for my purchase.

It was time to relax when we had lunch at the huge IKEA cafeteria.  Of course, both Jen and I tried the meatballs everyone was raving about.  We also bonded with Kate’s friends from Singapore and asked them about life in the cosmopolitan country.

Going back was so much easier although we were running out of time because we were supposed to reach the hotel lobby by 3pm.  Stopped by quickly at a money changer shop, had my US changed and paid my dues.  We had a good 20 minutes to spare and since Kate knows I wanted to try Ya Kun Kaya, we looked for it at a nearby mall.  Time is gold and I decided to just concede to trying Singapore’s Toastbox at the ground floor.  Both Jen and I ordered food to go.

I also appreciate how easy I got along with Jen.  I’ve been reading her Sexy Nomad site and like her steady positivism and travel spirit as well even before meeting and working briefly on a film project together.  Just the day before, we bonded over breakfast and waiting time at Selangor.

We hailed a cab and finally reached the lobby on time.  We were one of the early ones there.  The bus actually left an hour later.  No complaints since Jen, Kate and I had to repack our luggage and hand carry bags to fit in what we just purchased.

After repacking, we still had 30 minutes to enjoy leisurely the soft-boiled eggs and kaya toast combination we bought.  Yummy!!!  It wasn’t Ya Kun but it satisfied my kaya and egg craving!!! 😉

All aboard the bus, we hit our airport destination.  Because of the items I bought from IKEA, I was over the limit weight by 7lbs!  First time it happened to me too but since we were in a big group, I wasn’t too worried.  Not until the ground officer said we couldn’t do a big group check-in, which was a bit weird.  I was getting really concerned… Being quite independent, I was timid to ask people if I could share their weight limit 🙁  I checked how much it would cost me to just take in the extra weight -PHP 7,000!    Gosh, I didn’t want to pay an extra 7 Grand for “pasalubongs.”

After much scurrying, (big thanks to Alodia, Ashley, and Jonel as well as Frances and Fran who tried to help out), Jonel shared my luggage weight and checked in my bag under his name.  *BIG HUG to Jonel*

Whew, trouble-free huh 😉

Michael Jackson’s Doctor Investigated

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and LAPD detectives searched the residence and office of Conrad Murray, each location a week apart.  Murray is Michael Jackson’s doctor who is believed to have given Jackson a lethal dose of anesthetic Propofol.

Propofol is used to induce unconsciousness in patients ahead of major surgery.  In hospitals, only a trained anesthesiologist is allowed to administer the drug under strict monitoring conditions.

TMZ.com reported that Murray had told police in an interview he gave Jackson Propofol via an intravenous drip.  The website reported police believe Murray may have fallen asleep while the drug was being administered, and awoke to find the singer already dead.

If Murray did inject Jackson with Propofol negligently, he can be charged with homicide.

The federal agents and police came to his office a week earlier with a search warrant seeking evidence for the “offense of manslaughter”

The LA Coroner’s office reported that the toxicology result is due by the end of this week.

A Michael Jackson movie could hit theaters by the end of 2009.  Rumor is Sony Pictures is willing to pay the 50-million dollar deal for worldwide rights.  AEG Entertainment, the company who owns the 80-hour material showing Michael Jackson rehearsing for his planned series of comeback concerts, had previewed the footage to different Hollywood studios.   The television rights are up for bidding at $10 million.

Kenny Ortega, the choreographer for the King of Pop’s “This Is It” concerts might direct the movie.  He is also famed for the hit film, “High School Musical.”

We’ve seen a few clips of the rehearsal footages but that’s only a morsel compared to what AEG has in their possession.  The footage released last July 2 showed the international pop superstar practicing a song-and-dance routine at Los Angeles’s Staples Center two days before his death.  The footage shows that Jackson had been in good health prior to the day he died.

Jackson was found barely breathing on June 25 at his rented Los Angeles mansion.  A final cause of death has not been revealed as coroners await the results of toxicology tests.

Michael Jackson Memorial –Most Touching Moment

Millions of people all over the world stayed tune to the live coverage of Michael Jackson’s public memorial.  20,000 people flock to Staples Center, Los Angeles to celebrate the King of Pop’s life.  Family and friends of Michael Jackson remembered his contribution to the music and to the world.

Brooke Shields expressed her breaking heart as she remembered her younger moments with Michael Jackson, as well as Berry Gordon, founder of MoTown Records, Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant, Stevie Wonder.

The most touching moment for me during the memorial is when the whole family of MJ was onstage and Paris Jackson, one of Michael Jackson‘s three young children, and spoke about her late father.  With Janet Jackson on her side, she broke down saying that her father is the best father imaginable… her voice cracked as well as her heart when she expressed her love for her father.

Growing up under shades, blanket, masks, Michael Jackson made efforts to protect his children’s faces from the paparazzi for more than a decade.  But on Tuesday, in front of an audience of thousands at the Staples Center and millions more around the globe, 12-year-old Michael Joseph Jr., known as Prince Michael; 11-year-old Paris-Katherine; and 7-year-old Prince Michael II, known as Blanket clutching a Michael Jackson doll, sat in the front row, taking in their father’s memorial service at Staples Center.

The ceremony’s significant spotlight was on Paris addressing the crowd while fighting back sobs.  She breaks down in public in remembrance of her dad as millions of fans’ heart mourned with her.

“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” she said, her tiny voice cracking. “And I just wanted to say I love him — so much.”

Another tearful moment was Jermaine Jackson singing a song for his brother.  Viewers all over the world were stricken with emotion when the elder Jackson who was in tears performed his brother’s favorite song, “Smile.”

The group performed “We are the World” on the stage to honor Jackson’s role in bridging races.

Jackson sold an estimated 750 million copies of his album.  Only Elvis Presley and the Beatles are within this record.

The Battle for Michael Jackson’s Estate Continues

Jackson’s public memorial is scheduled on Tuesday in Los Angeles, California.  Ticket winners started retrieving their passes to the Staples Center ceremony.  More than 1.6 million people registered for the free entrance tickets.  From the registered million, only about 9,000 names were picked.  The ticket allocation is two per person.  Email notifications were sent to the lucky fans that scored the hottest ticket in town.  Sadly, some were selling their much-coveted tickets on Ebay starting at USD 3,000.

The list of participants at the memorial includes Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Kobe Bryant, Brooke Shields, Motown founder Berry Gordy, Lionel Richie, John Mayer, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and Martin Luther King III.

While the memorial organizers, Los Angeles police and Michael Jackson fans are busy in the upcoming public memorial at Staples Center, the battle for the King of Pop’s estate continues.  Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled against the request of Jackson’s mother to be put in charge of Jackson’s estate.  The judge granted Michael Jackson’s longtime attorney, John Branca and music executive and family friend, John McClain to oversee the pop singer’s estate for now.  Based on the 2002 will that surfaced recently, Jackson wanted the two to administer his estate.

Jackson died June 25, deeply in debt.  But a court filing estimates that his estate will be worth more than $500 million.  His assets are supposed to be for a private trust.  Michael Jackson owned a 50 percent stake in the massive Sony-ATV Music Publishing Catalog, which includes music by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Lady Gaga and the Jonas Brothers.

The family also asked if Jackson’s mother, Katherine can co-administer the estate with Branca and McClain to ensure that there is no conflict of interest since the two also has involvement in Jackson’s other shares.  They also wanted more time to see if another would emerge and to accommodate Jackson’s memorial service.  The judge however denied the request.

The judge further grants Branca and McClain several powers over the estate, including the rights to negotiate a settlement with concert promoter AEG Live over refunds for Jackson’s canceled London shows.

Michael Jackson’s life and legacy will be memorialized publicly at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, California.  People all over the world are organizing memorial services as well at their own locals to pay tribute to the King of Pop not only as a performer but bearer of a good heart.

Traveling to Cambodia

We checked in early the night before because Day 2 was quite an early day for us.  This is the day we are traveling to Cambodia.  Cambodia can be a bus ride from Thailand or Vietnam.  Bubba said that Philippines is fortuned with so many beautiful beaches but the counterbalance of that is, since we are an island of islands, it is a strain for us to travel elsewhere by land.  There is no other country connected to us.

We booked our Siem Reap tickets through the Sapaco bus company.  I have researched on three bus companies but it seemed from the forums that Sapaco is the optimum choice.  The bus leaves for Siem Reap everyday at 7am.  We woke up by 5am to prepare and check out of the hotel.  Cab took us to the Sapaco office in 309 Pham Ngu Lao Street.  We got there at 630AM and paid for our tickets.  We had time to spare so breakfast was a top agenda.  At the corner of the street, there was a small open-air Pho noodle house, Pho Bo Bo Kho.  Bubba had the beef stew (40,000 Dong) while I had the meatballs and flank Pho (30,000 Dong) and 2 bottles of water (5,000 Dong each).

It was a huge red tourist bus with A/C, LCD TV and W/C (or what they call water closet) and free water.  It took us two hours to get to Vietnam border.  There were five bus stops including immigration for both Vietnam and Cambodia borders, which took an hour total, 30 minutes for each.  It wasn’t much of a hassle since the bus conductor collates the passports and hands it to the immigration officer in bulk.  You have to bring your bags though inside since it has to go through the scanner, which felt pretty silly.

It was a 12-hour bus ride but I didn’t have to brace myself much since I don’t mind traveling by land.  I like long rides in fact (maybe not 12 hours long) but I’d take it any day than any 2 hours or more of boat ride.

Well, I thought wrong.

The bus stopped over for brunch at a highway carinderia, while waiting for our passports to be handed back to us (which was later on delivered via motorbike from the Cambodian Immigration office).  We were still full from breakfast but opted to take a bite since we didn’t know if this was already the lunch break and when the next stop is.  Bubba and I shared a plate of pork ribs and rice (seems like a safe bet), which cost USD 2.50.

The place was dingy but I didn’t want to fuss about it, so I ate with my eyes not leaving the plate and concentrated on the plate (trying to be oblivious to the guy who’s eating with his foot on the chair and another guy spitting on the ground).

A brief stop at Phnom Penh took 15 minutes.  Phnom Penh is the capital and and largest city of Cambodia with more than one million of Cambodia’s 13 million population.  Rightfully so because it is the economic, industrial, commercial, cultural, tourist and historical center of Cambodia.  In the 1920s, the city was once known as the “Pearl of Asia” and was popular for its traditional Khmer tradition.  Like Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh has some French influenced architecture and is currently the wealthiest hub in the country.  During the stop, I took the chance to talk to a girl in front of our seat who I heard earlier spoke in Filipino on the phone.

Her name is Lea and she is two years younger than me.  Gosh, I am packing on the years, everyone seems to be so much younger than me!  Lea is currently working in Singapore as an interior designer.  She’s been working there since her first job.  Her parents gave the Singapore trip as a graduation gift to her as well as an opportunity to check any openings in Singapore.  Luckily, a job landed on her feet.  Her plan was to backpack Vietnam and Cambodia, very much like our plan.  Since she is yet to book a hotel, I offered to look together when we get to Siem Reap.  A list of hotels I researched over the net trims down our hunt.

The Sapaco bus stopped over another side street eatery for a late lunch.  This one looked better than the first one.  Bubba and I were famished so we decided to order 2 separate meals to devour on our own.  We ordered beef with rice but we were handed fried rice with beef at USD 2.50 each.  It is a bit bland so we put a lot of fish paste on the rice.  Before going back to the bus, 2 Cambodian girls approaches and profusely convinces me to buy the fruits they are selling.  Both spoke very good English and called me “sista!”  They were really nice but one frightened me a bit with her pet spider when she put it in her mouth.

The bus gets on a ferry, which marks my first RORO-type of ride.  This took only 15 minutes, crossing from one side to the other side of the river.  To kill boredom, I watched the movie, “You, Me and Dupree” on my I-pod.

I suddenly felt nauseous around 4pm.  I felt like throwing up and pooping.  30 minutes later, I felt claustrophobic which intensified the need to throw up.  I was mentally trying to overpower my body and thoughts.  I stopped watching and tried to sleep.  I couldn’t.  My lungs seem to gasp for air.  Bubba was asleep.  I held it in and concentrated on happy thoughts.  But not even the memory of good poker night can sway my woozy state.

The final bus stop was a washroom break.  Thank goodness for 10 minutes of fresh air.  It helped me with the last hour of bus distress.  We arrived in Siem Reap at 715pm, which more or less hits the 12-hour target.

Lea approached a tuk-tuk driver carrying a paper with her name on it.  The driver was referred to her by her HS friend who stays in Phnom Penh and works there as a teacher in their International School.  The tuk-tuk driver recommended two hotels for us to check out.  We did and found it a little over the budget and quite a distance from the central district.  I referred to my list and suggested Dead Fish.  We saw the restaurant slash guest house and agreed to stay there.  Lea managed to get a fan room with twin beds with her 5-dollar/night budget while we got an AC room for $13/night.

I suggested to Lea to meet in an hour so we can both settle in and freshen up (or probably rest a bit).  40 minutes later, we meet at the restaurant lobby.  The well-lighted Pub Street lured us to having our dinner in one of the restaurants there.  From the Khmer cooking we tried from the side streets, I begged off the cuisine and pleaded to get something more familiar.  Viva Mexicano looked like the paramount choice at the time.

On the Table

Pineapple Juice USD 1.50

Strawberry Banana Smoothie USD 2.00

Big Bottle of Water USD 1.00

Cheese Quesadilla USD 4.00

Beef Burrito USD 4.50

Beef Enchilada USD 4.50

I didn’t get to eat much because I was hesitant to take in anything while the previous food is still lobbying in my stomach.  Lea and Bubba nod their approval of Viva’s good food.  I enjoyed the cold drinks.  The night was quite dry.

We turned in early since we were tired from the bus ride plus we need the rest to be able to wake up early the next day.  We’re doing the Angkor Wat tour before sunrise.  I hear the sun’s orange blonde glow in the morning casts a golden shadow over the Angkor Wat making it seem to be made of gold.

You know the harsh tribulations one goes through climbing a mountain but reaching the top of the mountain makes it all worth it?
