Philippine Holidays October 31, 2011 is a special non-working holiday and November 1, 2011 is a regular holiday… 4 day weekend yo!

As per President Benigno Aquino’s Proclamation No. 265, Monday, 31 October 2011, is declared as a SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY throughout the country.

Last December 2010, the President declared Tuesday, 1 November 2011, as a special (non-working) day through Proclamation No. 84.

Since Monday, 31 October 2011, falls between Sunday and Tuesday, 1 November 2011 (All Saints Day), which has been traditionally declared a special (non-working) day throughout the country; October 31 will now be a NO WORK DAY to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe the day with all its religious fervor which invariably requires them to travel to and from different regions of the country.

This means a 4-day long weekend!!!!  All together now, say, HAPPINESS!!!! 🙂  it’s time to visit our loved ones who have passed on and make most on rest.

August 2011 Holidays in the Philippines

In the recent years, August is that other month where we have at least 2 long weekends.  This year might not be the case unless President Noy Aquino declares Ninoy Aquino (incidentally his father) Day, which falls on a Sunday, moved to the following Monday.  Very unlikely.

August 2011 holiday

August 2011 Philippine Holiday

There are two holidays this August 2011:

National Heroes Day

August 29, Monday

Regular Holiday

Ninoy Aquino Day

August 21, Sunday

Special Non-working Holiday

If President Aquino doesn’t declare August 22 as a special non-working holiday then we have to be satisfied with only one long weekend in August.

August 29 that falls on a Monday is a regular holiday which means that it will be a non-working day.

*****UPDATE*****  August 5, 2011

August 21, 29 and 30 declared as holidays!  Even Aug. 19 too for those in Quezon City!

August 19 (Friday) has been declared as a non-working holiday for Quezon City-based employees in commemoration of Quezon City Day.

August 21 (Sunday) will be a special non-working holiday in commemoration of Benigno S. Aquino death anniversary, by virtue of Proclamation 84, which brings back the celebration of national holidays on their actual dates.

August 29 (Monday) is declared as a holiday throughout the country to celebrate National Heroes Day.

August 30 (Tuesday) is likewise declared as a special non-working holiday in commemoration of Eid’l Fit’r (End of Ramadan).

2011 Philippine Holidays Declared, No More Long Weekends

Under Proclamation No. 84, signed by President Aquino, Malacañang released the official Philippine 2011 regular and special holidays.  A lot of Filipinos groaned and grumbled with the thought that the “Holiday Economics” law passed in 2007 under RA 9492, more widely known to us as “special long weekends” will no longer be implemented.

I think President Aquino made it a point not to have too many “non-working” days in the Philippines but more importantly, letting the distinctive holiday date stay as is, regardless of the day it falls on, helps commemorate the importance of that particular date instead of moving it around.

December 2010 Holidays Declared

I’m already going to be on forced leave on December 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30.  I seriously still want to work, mostly because there are still a lot to do for Q1 of 2011 (watch out for new channels to be launched) and because I usually get sad when I’m idle (not that I don’t have tons of things I have to do at home.  Chores.  Errands.  General cleaning.  I usually stare into space when I’m home lately or let the boob tube corrode my brains.  Home is such a sad place since September.)

Anyhow, don’t let my not-so-Christmassy self weigh you down.  Check out the Philippine holidays declared this December.

December 25 (Christmas Day) – Regular Holiday

Where are you off to?

Papa planned to bring the family to Taiwan for a Christmas vacation, Dec. 24-30, supposedly our first Christmas not to be spent in Manila, and a family vacation we haven’t done in a long, long while.  I wish he were still here, even if we spend Christmas only at home… even if it’s just 3 hours of his time.  Now, I don’t feel like celebrating Christmas at all.

I wish sometimes I’m just faraway.  Far from all the pains I feel now 🙁

I wish I’m still a kid looking up at his face.  I know for sure I’d be smiling my happiest smile.  And I’d be telling him how much I love him… over and over again… in an Illustration Board artwork/card I made for him, in a Welcome Home banner, in a letter, in a simple text… in the respectful, loving and longing manner I look at him.  If I were still a kid, I’d make the 28 years I had with my dad more meaningful.

I miss you Pops.  And it breaks my heart now to know I do.  So much.

November 29 is Declared a Holiday in Observance of Bonifacio Day

Malacañang has declared November 29, Monday, a regular non-working holiday in nationwide observance of Bonifacio Day.

The public holiday actually falls on November 30, but the government by virtue of Proclamation 1841 pushes its observance as a non-working day nearest Monday.
