Adam’s Seriously Good Ice Cream

Last March, I connected with Adam again and finally got to visit his kitchen lab slash factory in Makati. I first met Adam Lieberman at his restaurant at the Fort, called Rose, 3 years ago. Although the food at Rose was superb, I couldn’t forget that dinner mainly because of the dessert, which was ice cream. Not a whole lot of sweets strike me, but Adam’s homespun ice creams are really remarkable to say the least.

Rose Restaurant at the Fort

Adam decided to concentrate on churning out these tubs of spectacle which birthed into the brand, “Adam’s Seriously Good Ice Cream.” Quite long for a name but it was simply and purely that, SERIOUSLY GOOD ICE CREAM.

I remember describing it this way, “their collection of signature ice creams are like designer clothes walking down the runway –original, distinct and in this case, tongue-catching.”  His ice cream held me. This is the perfect season for ice cream and in this extreme roast of summer, I don’t want anything else to comfort me.

Indulgence by Irene’s Queso de Bola Cheesecake

Irene has something strongly in common with Bubba.  That is, the love for cheese.  When Bubba had a short vacation in Canada last year, a Cheesepedida (Fran’s play on cheese and despedida/send-off) was collaborated by the Food Club to send Chris off with loads of love –and yes, that yellow thing.

Each Food Club member brought a special cheese dish for Chris.  It was a cheese-loaded celebration and one of the main highlights is Irene’s homemade queso de bola cheesecake.

This wasn’t our first introduction with Irene’s cheesecake as she really loves to bake in her spare time, from brownies that her daughter’s school friends and teachers love to gelatin surprise and now to her famous and beloved cheesecake.  Irene gifted me and Chris with her queso de bola cheesecake and it was love at first bite.

The cheesecake is thick and rich with a velvety smooth texture, at times flecked with bite-size chunky queso cheese.  The chunky parts add depths to the bite while overall taste has segments of contrasting mild cheese and fairly sharp cheese.  The creamy consistency can be so addicting.

All You Need in a Mate: Inti-Mate Bra Converter

What do we need from a good mate? 😉

SUPPORT.

That’s exactly what Inti-Mate does!  Bolster up falling bra straps with Inti-Mate bra converter.  It holds the bra straps in an “x” across your back.  Be more comfortable to wear your racer-back tops without the fashion blunder of displaying your underwear straps.  I know I’ve been guilty of that tacky fashion crime several times.

What’s great about the Inti-Mate Bra is the fact that you’re not limited to use it with only undergarments.  I’ve actually used it to secure the loose straps of my blue dress.  Other than giving you an added support with your bra –effects of a push up bra –instant support, cleavage and confidence, you can also use it with your dresses or tops with loose-fitting straps.  Some straps wear out overtime.  Inti-Mate Bra Converter easily resolves that dilemma.

The best part is, that “x” in fact gives you an added sexy look.

Don’t forget to grab yourself an Inti-Mate Bra Converter pack (PHP 250) that includes 3 clips: 1 black, 1 nude and 1 clear clip.  It’s also a perfect gift to give to your girlfriends!

Zubuchon Brings Cebu Lechon to a Prime Roast

Compared to a delicious trip in Cebu City in 2008, where our friend Norman who is a local there, toured us in the most exciting restaurants in the city, there were only two food things worth remembering in the recent Cebu trip.

One of which is what I’ve been harping to try since I watched the episode of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations.  MarketManila’s Zubuchon –which the famous chef and traveler AB claimed to be, “The best pig ever.”

Since we almost missed our check-in time because of a really poor car service, we couldn’t stop over Banilad Town Center anymore.  We decided to just buy the Cebu lechon from the airport, even at a more premium price.

Fresh/ Frozen Lechon (P490/ Kilo)

Frozen Lechon Ready to Cook Sisig (P295)

I ended up buying 4 kilos, while Bubba’ family got 2 and Rosette got 2 more kilos for her family.  We took home 8 kilos in total.  I honestly wanted to buy 10 kilos on my own to give as pasalubong to more people and let friends from Manila try this much-talked about Cebu lechon.  Bubba knew I’ve been jotting down names on a list since way before the trip.  Maybe next time.  For now, there are at least 3 friends on that list who have tried Zubuchon.

I’ve tried the other brands before.  CNT is the most popular when it comes to Manila-based visitors’ choice (at least in 2008) but locals say that there are better Cebu lechons in town than the widely known CNT.  Zubuchon has definitely taken the spotlight from CNT as more and more orders come in to their 2 branches in Cebu.

Zubuchon’s taste is above the rest because they use only the freshest homegrown organic lemongrass (which makes Cebu lechon taste quite distinct), green onions, local chilies, sea salt and other herbs and spices.

You can also order Zubuchon without having to fly to Cebu.  Zubuchin airfreights whole lechons to Manila for your party needs.  Place your orders as early as possible since the team has a cap on how many lechons they can serve during weekends.  Contact (63917) 627 4761 for order inquiries.
