Silya’t Sili

Visiting a restaurant sometimes not only feeds the mouth, the experience can sometimes feed the eyes and soul too.  This is one of those blog backlogs that I thought I’d never be able to publish anymore and finally I find the time to reminisce and remember my first visit at Silya’s Sili.  I really hope I get started on my Europe trip travelogue too soon.

The words Silya at Sili translates literally to chairs and chili.  Paintings filled the room and can fill souls that are hungry for art.  There is just so much artistry in the dining room from the unique furniture to the large paintings (with price tags which means you can take them home with the right money) to distinctive décor details like a washbasin made out of old sewing machine.  The restaurant is truly filled with conversation pieces but that’s only the beginning of it, there’s going to be talk about the food too.

On the Table

Squid Salad PHP 160

What a refreshing starter from the spring of red, orange, violet and green color amidst the white squid and spring of spice and acidity.  The slices of onion and red bell pepper add a lot of crunch to the squid salad while the lettuce bed is drenched in the dressing.  I’d recommend this to wake up your taste buds at the start.

Turning Two: Being Young and Lovely

Our good friends Andrew and Anne (collectively known as Annedrew… cute)’s daughter turned two this Saturday.  After last year’s 1st birthday big bash at EDSA Shangri-la, the couple decided to tone it down a little and yet making it a fantastic fun birthday party for Karie.

Karie’s Children’s Party

December 12, 2009

Jollibee, Greenmeadows Branch

Since there was a shortage of kids to join the games, the host volunteered the friends to join in 😀    According to Jim, it was obvious how us girls were so competitive against the boys haha.

We took that afternoon too to discuss Bubba’s outreach program and schedule our packing day, as well as our Christmas party.  For exchange gifts, each one picked out anonymously a name from the tray –rule is couples are not allowed to pick each other.  Everyone will provide a wish list in the group email to give gift ideas to their respective “ninong/ninang.”  Christmas party is slated on December 23, while the goody bag project on December 16, Wednesday night.

Karie’s eyes are so much like Anne’s but nose down, it seems like Andrew gave his share, including charm 🙂  The Jolli party included games and a dance performance by Jollibee who was accompanied by Hetty.  Karie was donning a red outfit paired with red shoes and socks –almost matching her mom’s and dad’s attires.

Happy Birthday Karie!!! 🙂

Travel Factor @ Ced’s Crib

I missed the Travel Factor group a lot.  The last time we were with them was when we met up for Ultimate Frisbee one Sunday morning.  Schedule has prevented us from joining them at the first Caramoan-Calaguas-CWC trip and the recently concluded Palawan trip.

A TF drinking party loomed on a Saturday night.  It was a hectic Saturday schedule as we came from a chiropractor schedule in the morning, a lunch schedule at Angel’s Kitchen, and the Dialogue at Starbucks event that Fran invited me to.  After having dinner at Pepper Lunch in Rockwell, we headed off to Greenmeadows.  Venue was at party master Ced’s crib.  Maan and I caught each other at Ced’s gate.  Leia and the rest of the group arrived within the next 15 minutes.  I brought Chili Con Carne and Wasabi Chips for Pica-pica and Vodka.

It was great meeting the people we haven’t met from the recent trips.  I’m bad with names but I think I remember, Ayla, Mitoy, Sonia, Jaycelle, Cha… Okay, my brain just twitched (pain… pain…) ß excuse for not remembering a lot of names…

Too bad we had to leave early because Chris had to pick up his parents from the airport.  But I cannot wait for the Calaguas trip!!!
