You know that Baz Luhrmann song, Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen? The song actually has spoken-word lyrics over a mellow Zambian music. Some of the lyrics have humor but most are wise and charming. It offers insights about living but kept reminding us that sun protection from harmful UV rays is equally important. I just thought why not a song about brushing too and stepping up our choices in life. Before you expect me to wax poetry and break into melodic humming, let’s talk about “healthy mouth” advocacy.
They say there’s a big difference between “working hard” and “working smart.” Working hard is giving maximum effort to, say, a certain project. Working smart is increasing your productivity and efficiency level in a shorter amount of time without necessarily spending all your energy. You could be “working hard” 8 hrs in a day and end up very exhausted, versus “working smart” half of the time yet still have energy for other things.
The same principle applies to our mouthcare routine. We’ve got to be clever about hygiene. Brushing (and occasional flossing if you’re not lazy about it) is not enough. Have you stepped up and secured full mouth protection?
It’s about time to STEP UP our good habit of brushing to an even better habit of rinsing after with Listerine. It’s just 1 small step… or 1 small rinse. But it makes a world of difference.
