This entry is coming a bit too late but for those who don’t know yet, let me share with you this bit of information. Bubba actually told me about the news sometime June knowing I am one to let gift certificates go to waste. A GC is a paper document containing the authorized signature of a restaurant, store, beauty salon or another establishment that serves as a voucher for the provision of service or goods.
If you’re like me who forget that we have GCs in our hands and the validity has expired before we realize it, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) signed a memorandum dated June 25 lifting restrictions on usage’s timeframe.
If you still have some expired GCs in your possession, you can now actually use them since there is no longer any expiration period for gift certificates except for those that were issued as part of a marketing promo. These promos are really often time-bound anyway.
I guess it’s still prudent for us though to use the GC as soon as possible. At some point, the restaurant/store may no longer be open for business at such time we want to redeem or the items/value we want to claim are no longer available.
