Born to Be Happy

February 1 is my favorite date of any year.  Why?  It’s my birthday! 😉

On this special date, yesterday, I turned a year younger but more learned and stronger.

As expressed in my SMS response, many many (many pacquiao) thanks for your greetings folks!!!  Super touched by the people who called, texted and messaged.  Truly appreciate being remembered on this special day.  Your well wishes warm my heart.

The planned HK trip didn’t push through so I had to retract my leaves that was set until Feb. 4.  I didn’t pay for the ticket (8K roundtrip) but I still felt a bit sad that plans have changed.  I picked myself right up though because there’s just no room for being sad when God has blessed you with another year in your life (I just hope that this year moves slower than last year.  2009 breezed by.)  On that note, the canceled HK trip only meant that I was blessed to meet the Jabbawockeez on my birthday! 😉  I was so ecstatic that as soon as the group turned their back, I couldn’t keep myself from hopping in glee in the middle of Greenbelt.  You strike out, Energizer bunny!

Wockeez, you are the rockstars of the dance floor!  😉  \m/  I heart you guys!!!

I’ve never done a birthday wish list and it crossed my mind earlier when dee boss treated me out for a birthday lunch with the team…

My birthday wish list:

  1. Dongle (Sun or Bayan)
  2. Oral B Electronic Toothbrush
  3. Bath and Body Eucalyptus Handwash -Aromatherapy line (smells soooo good!) 😉
  4. Nivea Facial Night Cream
  5. Pablo Neruda book
  6. Red Jumper Straps
  7. 100 HUGS

Yes, I’m easy to please.

Oh, and I finally got a copy of The Little Green Book by Phil Gordon!  It was a birthday gift.  Tee-hee *blush*

The best gift I received though was…

(Written note from Joyce)

I know I was still groggy waking up from sleep when you handed me this but… Joyce love, you are the rockstar in my heart! 🙂

Chris Brown Apologizes

Chris Brown publicly apologized for the beating of Rihanna, releasing a video on his website on Monday (http://www.chrisbrownworld.com).

Brown was arrested in February following a pre-Grammy party when he fought with his ex-girlfriend R&B princess Rihanna in a rented sports car.  He was charged with felony assault.  Brown was said to have pushed Rihanna from the car and repeatedly hit her.  It came to a point where he almost choked her.  He fled from the scene leaving a shaking and crying Rihanna.

He turned himself on the evening of the Grammy Awards, where he was supposed to perform with Rihanna.

In the two-minute video, he apologized to fans saying that he’s still seeking help and wants to live his life as a role model.  He said that he was not proud of what he did.  He also assures the fans that he has also repeatedly apologized to Rihanna.  Brown referred to the beating as “the incident.”  He calls his conduct “inexcusable” and says his mother has taught him better.

Brown in an earlier interview confessed that he witnessed domestic violence growing up.  Before the beating, Brown was considered a squeaky-clean R&B up-and-comer. He rose to prominence after the 2005 hit “Run It!” He was nominated for a Grammy for “No Air” with Jordin Sparks and named Billboard’s top artist in 2008.  The incident has clearly damaged his reputation.  Brown lost sponsorship deals, radio stations stopped playing his music and other artists condemned him after the attack.

“I felt it was time you that heard directly from me that I am sorry.  I saw firsthand what uncontrolled rage can do,” he tells viewers. “I have sought and am continuing to seek help to ensure that what occurred in February can never happen again.  I intend to live my life so that I am truly worth of the term ‘role model. “

Chris Brown will face sentencing on August 5, 2009, which will likely be 5 years of probation and 6 months of community labor.

Chris Brown and Rihanna REUNITED?

A huge controversy surrounded RnB couple, Rihanna and Chris Brown early February.  There’s buzz that the two are back together again.

According to PEOPLE, three weeks since the alleged “beating” incident, “Run It” singer Chris Brown and “Umbrella” singer Rihanna  are back in each other’s arms.  They are supposedly taking time off from the whole media fracas and spending time together at one of Sean “Diddy” Comb’s houses.

From People:

Adds the source: “While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves.”

In its latest issue, PEOPLE reports that Brown called Rihanna on her 21st birthday one week ago. “He called to wish her happy birthday,” a source told the magazine. “They’ve reached out to each other. It’s been mutual.”

The Soup

A new favorite TV show is on my list and many thanks to the Velvet channel on Sky Cable channel 53, this is where I get my helping of the Soup.  This snotty and snide E! production made me fall off the couch last weekend laughing.  Defunct The Crew, Friends and Darma and Greg used to have that effect on me.  The Soup puts a funny twist on frivolous “stuff” that passes for entertainment nowadays.  The writers are totally clever.  Joel McHale, who eerily has Ryan Seacrest 1000 watt smile, does a great job in hosting the show because he’s naturally and hysterically funny without missing a beat!!!
