With no place in mind to go, we drove aimlessly through Capitol Commons and Kapitolyo streets to find a somewhere to grab dinner. Since I wanted some meat and less carbs and Joe’s Meatshack by its name seemed to have lots of meat, I decided to stake out dinner there. Joe’s Meatshack location is near Milk and Sunny along the same street as Charlie’s Burger.
Love that they have different kinds of sauces, especially hot sauce! 🙂
Joe’s Meatshack has spacious interiors with lots of red and brown colors. The walls are adorned with funny posters. Menu is pretty straightforward, they offer burgers, fries, wings and some meals with rice.
I thought it was similar to Rap’s or Snackaroo who centers mostly on grilled local meats such as inexpensive porterhouse or t-bone steaks but it serves more diner food than anything.

On the Table
Chili Cheese Fries P180
Medium-size cuts of French fries were smothered with chili and loads of cheese sauce. I only nibbled on two or three at the most since I was cutting down on my carb-intake. It was good and good value for money.
Angus Beef Belly P260
This was surprisingly good. The beef belly was tender and the brown sauce on top was nice and wasn’t overpowering the taste of the beef. The rice that accompanied it was a good partner except that the butter or margarine in the rice was so evident.
Foie Gras Burger P465
Seared foie gras, juicy pure Angus beef patty, cranberry mayo
I didn’t have high expectations for this but there was an ample size of the seared foie gras on the burger which leveled up the ante immediately. The Angus beef patty was grilled beautifully with just the right medium doneness. My only gripe is that I can’t decide if the cranberry mayo works.
The sweet tartness of the cranberry should work well against the greasy richness of the foie gras but I think there was too much of it that in certain cases, it was too sweet. Besides I’m not a big fan of mayo. It’s just grease on grease, I thought John Travolta will pop out of nowhere and do swings and jives.
The burger was delicious nonetheless and the buns were also great!
Service is efficient although food is a little slow to come out of the kitchen. I don’t mind going back to Joe’s Meatshack but I’m not entirely sure I’ll be excited either. There are still a few interesting items in their menu like the cookie ice cream which is ice cream sandwiched with chocolate chip cookies and their steak and fries.
Thanks Ace!

Looks like am going to try this! Am always hesitant in trying Joe’s Meatshack. Whenever we pass by Kapitolyo, most of the establishments there are lined up by customers or almost fully occupied. Good thing you reviewed this, we will definitely try this next time. I loooooooveee these kinds of manly comfort food hahahaha! Thanks!
