Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina, Kapitolyo

I appreciate how Mexican cuisine is gaining ground in becoming a choice cuisine in the Metro.  Some are trying their hand in marrying Filipino flavors with Mexican, thus calling it Fil-Mex.  There’s one I like at the Podium whose Chili Con Burger is a knock out for me.  I don’t mind getting all sloppy and slobber all over their version of Mexican burger.

Some time August, Timmy invited to dine at a Fil-Mex restaurant in Kapitolyo called Silantro.  For a Sunday evening, it was quite packed and we were 2nd in line waiting for a table.  The place was pretty small though but service tries to be efficient so that’s a good thing.  Parking wasn’t so bad either as we were able to park both our cars in front of the Cantina.

On the Table

Beef Nachos P160

For its price, the beef nachos satisfied.  It was generously topped with cheese, which is always a good thing and the nachos had just the right portion of soggy from the sour cream and crunchy parts.  The beef strips were cooked just right and weren’t tough to chew like I was half expecting.  I could probably finish a basket of these nachos by myself next time.

Silantro’s Pork Ribs P195

Pork is something I am trying to avoid but how can I bear not to give in if it has barbecue basting and grilled?

Grilled Mahi Mahi P165

I’m trying to incorporate a lot of fish on my diet lately.  The grilled mahi-mahi had a lot of good flavors going for it but still tasted light.

I noticed that tables were filled with some drinking crowds.  All three dishes were good and I wouldn’t mind visiting Silantro again for some affordable Fil-Mex dishes.

Thanks Timmy.

  1. […] Besides drinking, I’ve also seen my friends enjoy their food. It must’ve been a pretty good place that one of my favorite bloggers raved about it here. […]
