Declared 2013 Philippine Official Holidays

Did you guys enjoy the long holiday weekends this year?  Are you wondering how many long weekends there are for 2013?  We got the answer so you can start planning for your personal vacations and weekend escapes.  Malacanang already issued recently the list of holidays for 2013 so there’s no more guessing game.

Compared to year 2012 where we are enjoying many long weekends, likely to be at least 7, the Palace confirmed that under Proclamation 459, the Philippines will only get few long weekends in 2013 which will include special holiday February 25 (Monday) in commemoration of EDSA Revolution, regular holiday December 30 (Monday) weekend for Rizal Day, and the regular holiday in observance of the Holy Week.  This includes Maundy Thursday which falls on March 28, 2013, and Good Friday, on March 29, 2013.

Chinese New Year declared a holiday this year last January 23 is no longer a holiday next year.  Palace, however, declared December 24, 2013 (Tuesday) as a holiday “in order to foster closer family ties and enable our countrymen to observe Christmas more meaningfully.”

  1. Thanks Jane for the list of holidays in 2013! Appreciated! And you’re recommended places where to spend the holidays! Great! 😀

  2. thanks…

less long weekends, meaning less travels for many Filipinos…less income for tourism industry & the country as a whole… & of course less money for the govt. officials to corrupt!
