More often, my favorite lunch memories (other than awesome lunch meetings) will include lunch buddies, Richard and Irene. Last year, it was so easy for us three to get together and just have random or planned lunches. We even reached as far as Ateneo just to get dibs again of Manang’s famous liempo. We’ve had countless (Monsees, Silya’t Sili and lots I have not blogged) of lunches and usually, it’s to try new restaurants or revisit old favorites.
Nav Modern Thai Cuisine is also a stone throw away from the office. Service was very accommodating and wait staff was knowledgeable on the items in the menu. Ortigas area, specifically Kapitolyo, is starting to be a really good area for some food-spotting. Nav is situated near Uncle Moe’s and Longganisa Surprise.

Crab Cakes P230
Crab cakes are one of my favorite seafood dishes since I love crab. It eases out nitpicking crabs by my own hands or a crab picker and supposedly packs a meatier aspect with the other ingredients thrown in. It’s a little dry on the inside but they serve it with sauce on the side that can compensate.
Tom Yum Goong P270
This spicy and sour (and sometimes tad lemony/minty sweetness) famous Thai shrimp soup has the right balance of all components that needed in a Tom Yum Goong, including plump shrimps.
Wok Fry Squid P260
Squid can be very tasteless but this wok fried squid is evenly coated with a special brown sauce. Rather than the usual white color of squid, it has this dark brown hue with a sweet soy glaze. Ideal with white rice!
Son-in-Law Eggs P180
What can be exciting about these eggs? The egg slices have an outer coating that gives it a crunchy exterior before the soft plush of the egg bites. It sits atop the serving dish with a thin-layer of sweet tangy sauce and wansoy leaves for garnish that I found out Irene likes. I was pretty happy with this simple yet interesting Nav dish.
Green Curry P240
I think it’s always safer to order red curry than green curry but this wasn’t such a bad call. Nav’s green curry has chicken pieces and bamboo shoots that adds a dimension of texture to the dish. The red chillies add a great contrasting color.
Khao Krok Kapi or Bagoong Rice P225
Yes for only three people eating, we ordered a whole lot. This is rice fried with the local shrimp paste.
Thai Sticky Rice P170
Complimentary dessert since they were just in the beginning phase when our trio visited (albeit the very late post haha –months and months late!).
If you’re looking for a Thai restaurant within the area that has some interesting take on Thai cuisine veering away from the conventional and with little surprises in between, NAV is worth a visit. Nav Modern Thai Cuisine has free wi-fi in the restaurant and parking space in front.

Navs is so near our office. We tried it once and never came back. We found the taste pare-pareho lang and kinda pricey. Medyo maliit pa ang serving. We love trying the restos along United St all the way to Kapitolyo and nadisappoint kami sa Navs. 🙁
Oh I sooooo love it here 😀 ! First went to this place around October of last year. Son-In-Law eggs, crispy tilapia, bagoogn rice and chicken satay were all wonderful 😀 ! I need to return to this place again 🙂
@ EnRoute:
This is a delayed post but I remember liking some of their dishes too. I polished off the Son-in-Law eggs hee-hee.
Modern Nav is so near my office. Let me know if you guys are in the area 😉
Cheers!
@ Rochelle:
Yea it’s a bit pricey for what the other restaurants offer too. There’s a good resto that offers diff longganisa in Longganisa Sorpresa. Yummy and afforable lunches!!! I’ll be back there, need to blog about them too 🙂
