Christmas Wish List 2011

It’s that time of the year again when we make little wishes in our hearts even if it isn’t our birthday… thinking that the joyful season can somehow grant happy thoughts and desires we whisper.  We reflect on how different past Christmases have been, if any and anticipate the year that is about to come.

During Christmas, I think about my loved ones and spending time with them… I ponder what gifts when unwrapped can bring smile to their faces… I look forward to get-togethers and little feasts that celebrate the Yuletide cheer.  This is the time I also contemplate on all the things I’m grateful for… first of which is LIFE… the birth of Jesus Christ, who saved me… the daily blessings, gentle sun on my face, real friendships, new friendships, hearty laughter, writing, loving and caring siblings, sisterhood, the memories of the love of my Pa, food, unexpected kindness, walking, opportunities, flowing water, my job, visions of the future, hope for what is to come and unwavering faith.

I don’t know if I can count as far as 1 million, my throat will be tired… I know that I can list and remember 1 million things that I’m thankful for and still have energy for 1 thousand more.  Despite certain things or aspects in my life, I cannot deny that God has been GOOD.  He has been merciful and generous.  And most of the time, I think there’s nothing I can ask more of Him, but a closer and deeper relationship with Him and for goodness and love to always be in my heart consistently.  Yea, I put always and consistently in one sentence for emphasis, even if it sounds off.

and of course, I wish for LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to surround me! 🙂

But if there are things I want to ask Santa, well I have a plenty.  Check out my Christmas Wish List last year.

Janey’s 2011 Christmas Wish List

  1. Hobbes and Landes Games

Growing up, I didn’t have many toys.  I just made do with loads of makeshift toys and toy land comprised of sofa, chairs, bedsheets and pillows and my overactive imagination.  I also enjoyed playing with hand me downs that are boys’ toys.  I remember I badly wanted to have my own board games, I ended up making my own, paired with my own cut-out pentel penned “play money.”

Since part of me feels that I was toy-deprived, I am still quite animated by them despite my age.  I’m still a very playful kid at heart.  Hobbes and Landes was a favorite “hang-out” place in Greenbelt during college days and post-college days.  I purchased Guesstures, both 2nd and 3rd versions (digital), among other board games and toys.  I think my first salary went to buying toys like a Magic 8 ball and a digital pet.

Every time I visit Hobbes and Landes, I still desire to have every single game / toy that’s available.  I’m also keen on getting even the pocket games for travel so I have a portable game to bring to out-of-town trips.  While other people like talking about people behind their back, I’d rather get my brain working and play with board games, word games or toys and have some fun and friendly competition!

  1. Books

I was such a book worm from Grade 5 to 4th year high.  I have a collection of fictional pocket books, such as Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High, Sweet Valley University, Fear Street, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Erle Stanley Gardner’s Perry Mason mystery/court novels, Choose Your Own Adventure (from Papa).  College, I’ve started reading John Grisham novels.  But somewhere between college and law school, I have stopped reading books for recreation.  Last books I picked up that I stayed on for hours are either Constitutional Law or Family Code or case digests or the like.  In 2008, I’ve started buying books again to encourage me to read.

I don’t mind receiving 2nd hand Mitch Albom book like “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” or “Have a Little Faith.”

I’m about to finish The Five Love Language book that my brother gave me –which is one of the best books I’ve read in a long while.  I recently bought Anthony Bourdain’s Medium Raw and The Cook’s Tour at Fully Booked.  Self-help or interior design books are also my interest lately.  I want to have more and more books!

  1. Guilliana and Bill Reality Show on DVD or Downloaded Media File (All Seasons)

I am a complete sucker for reality shows, from Survivor to Amazing Race to Master Chef US and Australia to the Contender to embarrassingly ANTM to Keys to the VIP to American Idol to a dozen more.  I have adored Bill since Apprentice 1 and although I wasn’t completely thrilled when he married Guilliana, this couple has somewhat grown on me.

I love Bill Rancic on the show and how he handles Guilianna and the relationship… how he sets his foot down when need be, how confident he is in making decisions and how self-aware he is.  Sigh, I wonder if he’s as close to who he is on TV as he is in real life. Seemingly he is, and I just want to continually watch him being his usual uncomplicated, problem-solving Bill that he is, and feed off his energy.

  1. Kate Spade iPhone Case

My Speck case broke leaving my iPhone4 with only a half case.  Richard and Irene have been hounding me to change my case and buy a new one the past 2 months but I refuse since I invested on the case (PHP 1,200) and still want to make most of its usefulness.

I feel like this is a good opportune to buy one of those Kate Spade iPhone cases I’ve been coveting.  READ MORE and check out the designs: Kate Spade Sleek Chic  iPhone Cases

  1. Sigma or Canon Ultra Wide Angle Lens (10-20mm)

I still remember the time I bought my first DSLR, Canon XT Rebel 350D in 2006.  My friend from General Santos, who is a photog accompanied me in my first ever BIG purchase.  This 2011, it felt like it was time for an upgrade so I recently invested on a Canon 60D camera, accompanied by another photog friend and soul sista, Maddie.  She lent me her UWA lens when I went to Dakak 2 weekends ago and I loved it.  I’m planning to get the same lens for my new baby.

  1. Accessory Bag from Miss OC in Greenhills PHP 350 or a compact rotating strobe light

  1. SUN Broadband Stick

I’ve wanted for so long to buy a wireless prepaid broadband stick.  I need an anywhere connection that’s prepaid.

  1. More dresses please… dresses, dresses, dresses

I’ve been wearing pants for quite a long streak that I have forgotten how to be comfortable in dresses.  Aiming to wear a dress every single day for 1 week straight.

  1. Yoga Class and Yoga DVD

I’ve been under a lot of stress this year, more than what I care to dwell on.  I seriously want to take Yoga classes and practice proper breathing and stretching at home as well.  I only noticed lately that sometimes when I’m anxious or stress, I unconsciously hold my breath.

  1. Dance Class

I love dancing.  And dancing makes me happy.

  1. A serious and forceful GYM BUDDY

I have gained approx. 6-8 lbs due to stress binging.  My 1-year gym membership is almost expiring and I’ve only used it 6 times if I’m not mistaken.  I need to get back to shape and lose my big kangaroo-like tummy.

  1. Stella Luna shoes!!!  I cannot get enough.  Aldo’s good too.  Or maybe another 3-month enrollment at Planet Zips.
