July 17, Surreal Surprise with Bob Blumer

Surreal Surprise with Bob Blumer

The Filipino crowd that attended Discovery Travel and Living’s event at Rockwell Tent was obviously smitten over Bob Blumer’s with and humor.  His dishes as well as his adventure tales were quite engaging.

He invited one of his twitter followers who happens to be a Filipina to be a guest at his event, Athena.  Bob picked out several winners out of a fishbowl with calling cards.  At some point he got bored with just drawing from the fish bowl that he took the cards and threw them in the air and caught one!  Eerily, spontaneous Bob picked Athena’s card.

July 18, Colt 45 URCC XIV Aggression

Colt 45 URCC XIV Aggression Fight Result

My friend Madz was nice enough to accompany me to watch URCC.  Jody decided to tag along as well.  Both of them caught the URCC MMA action live for the first time.  Since all the seats were sold out except for VIP, Bubba decided to pay for Madz’ ticket.  Jody left early for the Globe Run happening at 5am the next morning.  Personally, I like the non-VIP seats better because it’s within eye-level compared to ringside seats.  The VIP seats though bring you closer to the action (in other words: the blood, sweat and tears).

My former boxing trainer, Reggie (Amarante), won the match versus Raymond Carlos.  He was actually my favorite trainer alongside Kim, both boxers used to work at Red Corner Gym.  It was Reggie’s URCC debut that evening.  His match against Carlos was one of the only two bouts that reached the 2nd round.  He was trying to catch Carlos on the ground during the first round but both were vigilant against each other’s strategy.  Eventually, the first round exhausted both fighters and they were whizzing in the second round.  Finally, Reggie changed gears and did what he does best, boxing.  Carlos tried to take him down a couple of times but Reggie was quick on his feet while lashing out a few punches towards Carlos’ direction.  Ref stops the contest at 3:03 of Round 2 when Carlos stopped defending himself intelligently.

July 19, Mica’s Shoot

Because I look like “her,” I was tapped to do this shoot for Mica’s entry to CineManila.  Brian Ong plays the male lead role while Jade Lopez plays the female counterpart.  What an interesting story that Mica wrote… but I’m sure glad to do only one scene because I’m poor in acting.  I can’t even bluff in a poker table. 😀

July 19, First Time Detox Machine with Massage

We still can’t deduce if it’s real.  Some of our friends think it’s a fluke but after the detox, my headache was gone.  Psychological or not, it helped.

Mind you, those arent my hairy legs

July 22, Public Enemies Movie

Public Enemies

It’s only Johnny Depp who can make you fall in love with a well-dressed bank robber and America’s most wanted.

Billie Frechette: Why are you in such a hurry?

John Dillinger: Because when you’re looking at what I’m looking, you’d be in a hurry too.

July 23, Another Poker Night

Bubba wanted to go jiu-jitsu that gave me another excuse to go play poker.  It was a fantastic poker evening at the Metro Card Club.  The table was manageable and I played trash cards that got me several pots.  I like playing suited connectors now more than ever!  Probably might be able to get a Manila Jockey-sponsored seat at the FPT.  We’ll see but it’s Butch and Marie’s wedding on August 1, which is Day1B of the Filipino Poker Tour.

June 24, Ristras with the DLSU Berks

It was supposed to be Butch’s stag party last Friday night but in Chinese traditions, when a grandparent died, you’re forbidden to go to birthdays or any type of celebration/party for one whole year.  Anyway, the bunch still decided to meet (now with the girls) for dinner instead.  I was the only odd woman (ODD in every crazy sense of the word) out because Made was exhausted from Hong Kong, Anne attended a friend’s bridal shower while Marie was with her friends on her bridal shower.

We just ordered from Ristras the other night and here we are again.  It was jam-packed night even at 9pm but Andrew was able to secure a table.  It was Andrew, Butch, Eric, Jim, Chris Darwin, Bubba and me.
